“Love is Here” by Lucia Martinez-Castro

“Love is Here,” she says
“Love is Here,” she says as the train screeches to a halt, the harsh noise hurting her ears.
“Love is Here,” she says as she takes Love’s hand and drags her back home
“Love is Here,” she says as they arrive home, a playful, bubbly excitement hanging in the air

“Love is still Here,” she thinks as she holds its hand as they watch movies together
“Love is still Here,” she thinks as they walk through the throng of ducks in the park
“Love is still Here” she hopes as she makes her way home from a stressful day at the office

“Love… are you here?” she asks
“Love… are you here?” she asks into the empty apartment,
“Love… are you here?” she asks to where the suitcase used to sit
“Love… are you here?” she asks as she hears the engine start and fade into the distance

“Love… I miss you” she says as she sits down on the couch with a bottle of fizzy champagne in hand
“Love… I miss you” she says as she falls asleep
