“A Matchbox in Disco Lights” by Tommy Dan

Silence and thought walk with joined hands.

On the two sides of the glass,

I discover two different lands.

Gold Foil on the floor leisurely expands,

Alloying with my saxophone’s brass.

Silence and thought walk with joined hands.

In the downpour one soaked man stands;

Beside the lamp I listen to raindrops patting on the grass.

I find two different lands.

The chitchatting of sparrows ends,

When the moon slides across

My silvery window. Silence and thought walk with joined hands.

Roaring cars put up bands

           Woven by flaring headlights. Shutter closed || I fall into a mass

Of darkness. I find two different lands.

The other side of the mirror sends

Others’ lives, yet my private universe has

Only my imagination contained. Silence and thought walk with joined hands.

On their path I find two different lands.
